KUTA is a hybrid of tried and tested legacy multicore technology with a military electronic design of an active HD-SDI system that can transmit uncompressed HD signals over a multicore cable in excess of 100 metres (up to 200 metres with an active in-line cable powered booster box )
The highest priority behind the design is maintaining minimum features most live broadcast environments expect in the most cost effective way, one important philosophy is not re-inventing the wheel, so we have made the system as open as possible for integration into existing third party systems, ie we assume that there is an existing preferred intercom system available so most inexpensive 2 wire systems that run on standard microphone XLR cable such as Tecpro /RTS/ASL will be compatible.
Other standard features include:-
Time code link (master from rack or slave other cameras from master camera)
Return via Composite TX link
Tally (most protocols supported, via opto isolated circuits preventing damage to mixer if shorted)
Independent 60w power supplies to each camera (4 cameras for each rack). All thermally protected, if one goes down the others still work.
Each camera power supply has been set to allow power to operate a full size 2/3” B4 camera with HJ40 lens and studio viewfinder over 100metres, without the need to power the camera locally.
Remote link for most 8pin CCU RCP/RMB-150 type remotes for full CCU control of most Sony ENG cameras (HDW/PDW/PMW) ,Also including the latest Canon RC-V100 remote giving CCU control of C-300/C-500 XF-305.
The KUTA system comes in a 2U rack and supports up to 4x Camera channels , which can be daisy chained to handle multiples of four ie 2x KUTA Racks = 8 cameras 3x KUTA Racks =12 etc
Ideal for compact flyaway PPU systems for live location coverage of live events, also for small installations in places of worship small cable TV studios and corporate TV studios.
Because of the universal nature of the KUTA design a typical scenario could be 2 x Canon XF305, 2 X Canon C-300 in a demo situation medium and wide shots covered by XF-305 close up demo shots via C-300.
The KUTA system allows perfectly good old tape HD cameras including HDCAM camcorders that may have otherwise been scrapped due to faulty tape systems or lack of use can now have a new lease of life as part of a fully functional HD Studio or OB PPU. It is also quite easy to mix and match Sony PDW800/PMW-500 and PMW-EX3/300 cameras, which can be released and used as camcorders when not left in the studio as other dedicated studio cameras will be left to do, which in this day and age is very wasteful.
